Before you say “Bless you…..

you have to say F#%@ you”

What?? “Before you say ‘Bless You’ you have to say ‘Fuck you’???

I was at Wanderlust and Seane Corn has just delivered this message (BTW: She didn’t say the word just “F…..)

Either way, this wasn’t what I was expecting from a yoga class but…..
Seane is an activist -the 2005 National Yoga Ambassador for YouthAIDS-she sits on the board of the Cambodian Children’s Fund and created a yoga program for an LA Children’s Shelter called “Children of the Night”

She said this to us after a series of lunges and hip openers where she asked

“Have you gotten into any arguments with home this weekend? Any bad emails or phone calls???”

Just as I was thinking How does she KNOW??? -a few others around me laughed in agreement.

Then Seane went on to the lesson of the practice.  That yoga is not always flowers and cupcakes and puppies-sometimes the path of a spiritual practice brings up alot of suppressed anger and fear and fiery energy.  Ugh-all scary things, right?

But, the less is that you need to open up and reveal and deal with all of the darkness you have inside, the reality of the darkness around you and the bad energy that comes barreling at you when you embark on a spiritual path.

Before you can become the calm, peaceful yogi that you imagined-you’ve gotta burn through the samskaras you’ve built up and challenge the patterns you’ve built.

And, it might result in some bad phone calls, emails, texts from relatives and  Significant Others and generally annoying people.

Therein lies the lesson…….

Breathe and all will be revealed, love and all will be healed. This is yoga. –Seane Corn

Perfection is achieved, not when there is nothing more to add, but when there is nothing left to take away.-Antoine de Saint-Exupéry:
