She was so damn dynamic.
When she entered the room-it was like an electric jolt.
There are those people who go quietly through life-those who blend in, who don’t take any chances, who conform and blend in.
Fuck that. She was not that kind of girl.
She had the kind of blue eyes that could see right into your soul-the very dark depths, and she would acknowledge it with acceptance, saying “I’ve been there too and back and I SEE you and I don’t judge.”
She bore the scars of a warrior- burns in her skin from fire spinning, bold tattoos of angel wings and ferocious Indian Goddesses.
The scars she held inside only surfaced sometimes but reflected the torment of someone who felt too much, emphasized too greatly, and who suffered for the Universe more than most.
How appropriate that she left us right before the New Moon in Leo-the one that represents “Leading with the Heart”.
It is said “Leo can risk it’s heart because it’s a big one to share”.
But also appropriate that Leo is said to NOT go quietly into the night. Leo does not go quietly because it’s entire duty is to express itself and teach everyone else how to do the same. Leo is lit from within, inspired and hard-wired to demonstrate the human journey to its fellow travelers.
This moon is about luminous darkness, that wonderfully, rich and beautifully black void of creation that we all come from. Because, we are family. And no one was more luminous than Mariann with her lightness and darkness and wisdom.
And -no one brought people together more than Mariann in her passing. From all around the world- notes, pictures, sentiments, dedications. In all of the 5 languages she spoke.
In her wisdom-she helped us let go.
New moons remind us of the power of letting go, the strength that is found when we do and the knowledge that is ours to reclaim when we value the entirety of the cycle.
Thank you Mariann for the lesson of light and dark and love.
